Students in the International
Soccer League
GV Vancouver has two teams in the Vancouver International
Soccer League. One team represents the Gastown campus and the
other represents the Yaletown campus. Both teams have played
well in the first quarter of the season with Gastown going
3-1 and Yaletown going 2-1-1.
Columbian keeper Sergio Plata is excited about the way the season is going. "My English has really improved too. As keeper, I have to speak with all the players-in English! We have players from Asia, Europe and Latin America."
GV teacher Mike Rosaine shares his enthusiasm. Mike has been involved in organizing both teams along with being a defensive standout. "It's only getting better with the upcoming World Cup. It is exciting to have players from all over the world playing together and mixing their different styles of play on one team."
Let's hope their strong play continues into the playoffs-look out for championship updates later in June! |
