New Dimensions for the Business/Career English Program
Recently, GV Calgary added the Career English Diploma (for students who complete the full course over 12 weeks) to its four and eight week Business English Certificate program. This has proven to be very popular with students. Now, the GV Calgary Business/Career English Program also combines face-to-face classes with an online presence that can be accessed from anywhere with an Internet connection.
A learning management system (LMS) is used together with a website to extend classroom resources and activities onto the Internet. Students can access classroom materials, upload homework, participate in discussion forums, take quizzes and exams, and build online profiles with text and images.
Teachers can give out and grade homework in the system, organize and deliver assignments, hold quizzes and exams, and monitor student activity. All of this (and more) is centralized into one user-friendly application and website that students use both in class and at home.
The next step will be for GV Calgary students to continue to access Career English materials online once they have graduated from the school. Stay tuned for exciting news about how this feature will be added to the Alumni section of the GV web site.
