GV Toronto offers an exciting array of activities in the fall and winter sessions to give students the opportunity to experience all that Toronto has to offer in these uniquely Canadian seasons.
In the fall, students will have the chance to participate in activities pertaining to the harvest season, Halloween and more. Day trips to the Markham Fair and Chudleigh's Apple farm will allow students to experience an authentic fall fair and learn about the importance of Canada’s agricultural community. They will taste candy apples and homemade pie, pick their own apples, go for a tractor ride, and see farm animals in their natural setting.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in a 3 day camping trip to Algonquin Park, where they will canoe, receive an astronomy lesson and have the chance to see the fall colours and Canadian wildlife. As the fall comes to a close, GV Toronto students will carve pumpkins, decorate the school for Halloween, get ideas for costumes and attend various parties and events celebrating Halloween and Oktoberfest.
In the winter, students will be excited to participate in winter specific activities, such as tobogganing, building snowmen and ice skating. Students will also attend AHL hockey games, NBA basketball and be offered ski and snowboarding trips. As Christmas nears, students will attend the tree lighting ceremony at Queen’s Park, decorate Christmas trees and the school, sing Christmas carols and attend the Santa Claus parade. Students will also visit places like the Hockey Hall of Fame to supplement their understanding if this distinctly Canadian season.
In addition to these season-specific activities, GV Toronto students will have many other activity options in the exciting city of Toronto. Visits to the ROM and AGO, pub nights, trips to the CN Tower and Niagara Falls, cultural dinners, nights at the theatre and more will be offered to ensure that GV Toronto provides something of interest for everyone. Weekend excursions to New York City and French Canada are also available to further students' cultural experience while in Toronto.
