Games Room, Makeover, DVD and Partnership Launch Party

Games Room / Crokinole boards

Students can now join in the fun in the new Games Room at GV Toronto. Students can play chess, checkers, backgammon, poker and the new favorite, a real Canadian game, Crokinole. This game is played on a circular board where players shoot disks and try to knock their opponents off the board.

Crokinole has become an instant hit at GVT thanks to the enthusiasm of our IT Manager, Eric and a few of the teachers. On this month’s activity calendar, the crokinole tournament had over 30 students signed up for an evening of competition.

2nd Floor and Upper Concourse Makeover

Both of these floors have had a makeover recently. Carpets were replaced, the Upper Concourse classrooms have been freshly painted and new tables and chairs are now in place in the 2nd floor lounge giving the students more space for lunch and hanging out with their friends. GV Toronto is looking good!

Our Activity Coordinator, Natalie, and the ESL Coordinator, Nicole, have also put together some great new picture collages around the school depicting all the fun activities available to students at GV Toronto year round – no matter what the season.

DVD

Coming soon – a brand-new DVD for GV Toronto! This will be available for 2007 and will be a great way to show potential students what life is like as a student at GV Toronto.

GVT-Humber College Partnership Launch Party

On Friday November 24th, Global Village Toronto and Humber College held the official launch party for our new partnership (read May 2006 E-news). Attended by various agents representing both schools who were in town for the CEC fair as well as staff – it was a great success.

Held in the Humber Room at the College, students from their culinary arts program looked after the catering while guests mingled to the mellow sounds of a jazz foursome made up of Humber music students.

After welcome speeches by GV Toronto's Director of Programs, Donna Daly and Associate Dean, Department of English, Joe Aversa, the visiting agents could chose either a spa treatment or a Canadian cooking class. Judging from the responses at the end of the event, they all had a lot of fun.

GV Toronto is looking forward to having many students continue their studies in the fantastic programs offered at Humber College. More information on Humber's programs can be found at www.humber.ca
