The charitable organization we worked with last year certainly remembered us our generous donations and asked if we would consider adopting 2 families this year. With a resounding yes, the staff and some students got into the giving spirit and went shopping for both families.
In true GV fashion, we made sure that these families would have a very merry holiday season. Both families received a large box of food, various article of warm clothing like mittens, hats, winter jackets and scarves, toys for the children, other clothing and gift cards for Loblaws grocery store, Shopper's Drug Mart drug store, Walmart, HMV music store.
Although privacy acts restricted us from knowing too much about our adopted families, we were able to learn their first names, ages and something they wanted for Christmas. This ranged from a Bratz Doll to "a better life for my children". All the gifts were wrapped and labeled by the staff and then delivered by our Director of Programs, Donna Daly.
It was a wonderful feeling for everyone involved to know that we helped make a difference for two family with very little this Christmas season.
GV Toronto wishes everyone all the best for 2007. |
