Seasonal Festivities at GV Vancouver

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to celebrate Christmas with people from around the world-all in the same place? Students at GV Vancouver get this opportunity every year.

One of the special traditions at GV Vancouver is the annual Christmas Carol Celebration. After school, on the last day of classes before Christmas, students are encouraged to stick around and sing some carols. Usually, it might be difficult to get students to stay late-but not for this. Almost 100% of the students join in and share different songs from around the world.

The most impressive part is when the whole school joins in to sing the famous carol Silent Night. First it is sung in English and then in every language for every different student in the school. This year it was sung in Korean, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin, Portugese and Italian. Needless to say it was the only time in the whole year when students get to break the strict English Only policy!

Afterwards, everyone stayed around talking about their different traditions and sharing a bit of holiday cheer.
