VICTORIA, CANADA

New Homestay Coordinator

We are sad to say goodbye to Gloria Guevara. She worked as Homestay Coordinator at Global Village Victoria for several years, and before that was involved with the teen program. She will be missed by students, families and staff alike for her amazing patience and good homour.

Aviva

Aviva Shtull

In Gloria's place we would like to welcome Aviva Shtull. Aviva comes from Victoria and so she knows this area extremely well - a big advantage in helping students find a great place to live! She has also lived in Mexico and, like Gloria, speaks fluent Spanish.

Her background includes teaching ESL and outdoor recreation management, and she has worked with children, teens and adults in a variety of settings including educational tours to the Rocky Mountains, teen camps, and tourist projects. Aviva's interests include music and dance, and she enjoys learning about diverse cultures.

Activities to suit everyone

Yoga
A new activity on the schedule starting from this month is yoga. Our teacher is trained in both yoga and ESL, and the class has attracted students of all levels of yoga proficiency. A perfect way to relax after school.

Trip to Seattle, USA
In March, students have the chance to join us on a trip to Seattle. We'll go there by ferry direct from downtown Victoria, and the itinerary includes visits to the world famous aquarium and a first nations village on a nearby island for dinner, as well as time for shopping and a coffee in the original Starbucks. Not to be missed!
