Global Village Toronto turns 28!
On February 28th, Global Village Toronto celebrated its 28th birthday! To mark the occasion, staff and students gathered at lunch time to mark the occasion.
After a short speech by the ESL Coordinator, Nicole, everyone sang a heartfelt Happy Birthday to the school. The four big cakes were cut and all enjoyed a piece of cake together.
Some students were surprised that the school was actually older than them!

Pancake Tuesday at GV Toronto
In February, the students here at GV Toronto arrived at school to the tantalizing aroma of pancakes. A GVT tradition, Donna (Director of Programs), Nicole (ESL Coordinator), and Rebecca (Director of Administrative Services) cooked up a storm in the 3rd floor lounge.
Teachers brought their classes by one-by-one to partake in the feast and explain about the traditions behind Pancake Tuesday. All students and teachers enjoyed the breakfast and many asked if we would do it every week! |

Connect with Canadians
The volunteer club, Connect with Canadians, is up and running at GV Toronto. Students can join to learn more about volunteer opportunities in the city for students. Regardless of length of stay or language ability, there is something for everyone in the busy, diverse city of Toronto.
Students may have the opportunity to volunteer with seniors, in a hospital, work with animals or young people, help at one of many of the cities historical attractions, gardens, sports clubs and more. The volunteer centre of Toronto is just down the street from Global Village and the staff there is used to helping international students find a great volunteer placement that suits them. |
