Bonjour Mes Amis! GV Vancouver Introduces Basic French
In response to a growing number of students who are interested in learning French while studying English in Canada, GV Vancouver has opened a new afternoon Option course in Basic French.
Basic French is designed for upper level ESL students who wish to learn simple expressions and basic vocabulary to get started learning a third (and sometimes fourth or fifth!) language. |

Students in our first class come from Japan, Germany and Mexico. When asked why they chose the Basic French option, all the students agreed that it was a unique opportunity to try something new. "I wouldn’t be able to find a French class in Japan so easily. It’s very exciting!", said one student."Students have done things like greetings, the weather, and dates", says Melanie Swithin-Jones, the teacher of the course and whose first language is French. "The class is so fun because everything is new and exciting."
The class recently got a chance to test out their new skills when Marie-Claude, a GV student from Quebec, visited the class and spoke with them in her native French. |
