Vancouver Island Adventure - Pacific Rim Whale Festival
March 2007 sees the 21st Pacific Rim Whale Festival in Tofino on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, and GV Victoria is planning a trip to join in the fun!
Each spring an estimated 22,000 grey whales migrate from Mexico to the Arctic. Along the west coast of Vancouver Island the whales travel close to the shoreline so there are excellent viewing opportunities.
Free public viewing stations are set up, or you get even closer to the whales in a boat or floatplane.
The small town of Tofino is located in the glorious Pacific Rim National Park and is one of the most popular destinations for visitors to the area.
Our trip to the area will include beach and forest walks and a visit to the Wickaninish Centre - an information centre where visitors can enhance their knowledge of the natural and cultural heritage of this unspoilt area. Definitely not to be missed! |
