Noosa: 'Hotspot' for Student Jobs

At GV Noosa we're happy to help students to find work while they are studying with us. Jobs in Noosa are plentiful, and virtually all of our students who are looking for work find a suitable position. Given the nature of Noosa as a tourism hotspot, the majority of jobs available are within that industry.

There are more than 100 resorts in the Noosa area and along with the multitude of restaurants, cafes and bars they require a variety of employees such as: wait staff, bar staff, kitchen staff, housekeeping staff, cleaning staff, etc. Noosa experiences a high turn over of staff for most of the year and as a result there is almost constant vacancies for the above positions.

Noosa is a relatively small area with 6 sub-centres (Noosa Heads, Noosa Junction, Noosaville, Tewantin, Sunshine Beach and Sunrise Beach) all with-in approximately 8 kilometres of each other. Students staying with one of our homestay families can easily walk, cycle or catch the local bus to and from school, work and home.

Students studying on a Student Visa are elligable to work for up to 20 hours per week. Many employers specifically look for employees to work between 15 and 25 hours per week during their busiest times. Typically students can expect to earn between $13-$25 per hour for any of the above positions.

The amount of work available makes Noosa almost unique in Australia, and makes GV Noosa the ideal location for long-term students looking for a complete lifestyle experience.

Noosa Cambridge Class

Cambridge Preparation at GV Noosa

The Cambridge Pre-preparation course is a five week intensive course for low intermediate level students wishing to enter the FCE course. The course has been prepared in response to the growing demand of prospective students who require a preliminary programme of study to reach the entry requirements for the FCE. Learners may come directly into this course as part of an intensive seventeen week programme or after successfully completing a general English course at pre-intermediate level at GV Noosa.

Course Structure

A theme is introduced each week to act as a stimulus for vocabulary development. Grammar is taught within this context and students are introduced to proof-reading and error correction skills. Particular emphasis is placed on developing fluency and accuracy in conversation and on developing effective listening skills.

Entry Requirements

Low Intermediate level English. In all cases the entry pre-requisite will be a 'pass' in our initial placement Test, which has been developed for all enrolling students. A pass in the case of entering the Pre-Preparation Cambridge course is defined as gaining a minimum of 50% overall on the test.
