Newlyweds enjoyed GV honeymoon and yodeling
Most students just come to Global Village to learn English. But did you know that some people see GV as a romantic destination as well?
Kurt Scheuber-Iten, a carpenter, and his wife Elizabeth, a nurse, came from Zurich. They decided to take their honeymoon in North America. In addition to their two weeks at GV Vancouver, their three-month whirlwind trip included stops in Toronto, Calgary, Port Hardy, Prince Rupert, Cassiar, Alaska, and even Fort St. John where they visited Elizabeth's brother.

There's something else about Kurt and Elizabeth that makes them a bit different. Their hobby is yodeling.
Yes, yodeling.
Yodeling is a form of singing that involves singing a long note, with sudden, dramatic changes in pitch. Yodeling was developed in the Swiss Alps as a method of communication between mountain peaks. Kurt and Elizabeth learned by taking an evening yodeling course once a week. Elizabeth has been yodeling for about five years, while Kurt, a newcomer to the art, has been doing it for two years.
So when and where exactly does one practice yodeling?
Elizabeth says, "I yodel when I feel happy—sometimes in the car and places like that."
Between enjoying their honeymoon, studying English, and yodeling, this newlywed couple has plenty to keep them busy! |
